egg custard tart

One of the very few pastries you can get in Chinese bakeries that I like, is egg custard tart. Knowing that Chinese bakery is a place where I find myself all-sweated in my worst nightmares, you make ask, how is it possible that I'm ever able to have anything from that scary nest of vice. The answer is simble: egg custard tart comes from Europe. It's a Portuguese traditional pastry, which became a part of Hongong cuisine in 1940s, having been brought there from nearby Portuguese colony of Macau. Then, after the opening reforms in China in 1970s, it has been popularised all around the mainland China.

As you can see, it's a soft pastry topped with custard, which is a kind of sauce made from eggs and milk. If I had to reccomend one thing to try from Chinese bakeries, it would be, with no hasitation, this one!
